The Internalizing Virtue Framework is an instructional framework that can help educators, parents and administrators to be more thoughtful in their efforts to educate for character. Built on the belief that character formation is a lifelong enterprise, the Framework illustrates how we can help students to become not only aware of virtue, but also internalize dispositions of good character. By raising awareness, inspiring understanding, building good habits of action, and fostering reflection, adults can help youth to internalize virtuous dispositions.
The I-V Framework was developed by Karen E. Bohlin, Deborah Farmer and Kevin Ryan, 2000.
Utilizing Boston University's "Internalizing Virtue Framework"
developed by Karen E. Bohlin, Deborah Farmer and Kevin Ryan in 2000, this program integrates internationally proven strategies - including The Virtues Project, Mindfulness, Nonviolent Communication, Positive Discipline, and Restorative Justice - to change the way that you deal with other people.
The strategies used within this framework provide a simple, effective approach to creating a culture of character at home, at school, at work and throughout life.
