Discipline as Transformation:
The Art of Restorative Justice

Traditionally, discipline is based upon a model of retribution - punishment for doing something wrong.

Recently, there has been a lot of discussion about a different approach.

The first, and most important, thing to change is our view that punishment is necessary. Although it is a consequence, it often fails to teach us the valuable life lessons. What it does teach us is to avoid being caught for doing something wrong.

Character is built when virtue is internalized. We must have the ability to understand what happened, discover what we could have done differently, and the ability to make amends. It is vital that discipline be viewed as an opportunity for learning and for developing character.

There are simple, easy steps to implement this approach. This is a workshop appropriate for anyone in a leadership position as well as parents and teachers.

This is a 2.5 hour program. For more information call 914-388-2532 OR email: info@communitycharacter.com for details

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved. ~ Helen Keller
