Community Character Consulting, founded in 2007, to provide training & services in two distinct areas: 1) Community Character - providing projects relevant to the strengthing of communities and organizations
2) Cultivating Character - providing training in Interpersonal Communication and Character Education.
Experience
Melinda McKnight has an educational background that includes training in Communication - both written and spoken. She has served as adjunct faculty at SUNY Ulster where she taught Information Literacy. She has also been an instructor at Ulster BOCES and provided workshops and training sessions on a variety of topics since 1998.In 2004, after attending a five day Facilitator Training in the strategies of The Virtues Project, she realized that a well-conceived and completely integrated character education program provides the best opportunity to achieve lasting, positive change.
Melinda McKnight's ability to assess each situation and then to incorporate effective interpersonal communication strategies with a focus on Restorative Justice creates a truly unique program designed just for you that is guaranteed to make a positive difference.
She has many years of experience teaching as well as providing training sessions, workshops and seminars on a wide array of topics including character education and information literacy. She has found these skills useful in the classroom, in the workplace and at home.
During the nearly two decades spent in the field of Public History she gained experience in: organizational development, strategic planning, community relations, festival/event/program development, volunteer recruitment, information literacy, grant writing and tour guide/hospitality training.
Melinda Terpening McKnight earned her A.S. degree in Communication from Ulster County Community College, B.A. in English/Rhetoric & Communication from the University at Albany and an M.A. in Public History from the University at Albany.
Melinda lives with her husband, Bill, near Woodstock, New York.
