Our communities face a wide array of big challenges that include bullying, rising high school drop-out rates, vandalism, drug abuse, gang violence to name a few. We often fail to talk about the smaller day-to-day issues such as gossip, back-biting, micro-managing, controlling, ignoring, yelling, demeaning, and humiliating that take their toll on the human spirit. There are simple ways to counter-act each of the challenges mentioned. Together, we have the power to cultivate character in ourselves, in others and, in the process to strengthen our community.
